SomeLanguageForExtremeProgrammers

[old:SomeLanguageForExtremeProgrammers]

Rather than repeating the same stuff on both SmalltalkForExtremeProgrammers and PythonForExtremeProgrammers, this page has been created for discussion about what the session should be about.

Some suggestions:

  • It could be about specifically SmallTalk, because that's the background of a lot of the "early" ExtremeProgrammers?.
  • It could be about programming using a DynamicallyTyped? language.
  • It could be about programming using a language that supports closures or functional programming.
  • It could be about programming using a language that supports powerful reflection.
  • It could be about programming without curly braces.

SmallTalk is an example of all the above, but others could be considered if the emphasis is on one particular thing and you want to use a language that isn't too unfamiliar in too many different ways.

Fine as this list of ideas are, none of them seem to go to what I (KeithB) believe is the heart of the matter:

  • Programming in a programming environment that expects you to change your mind.
