Matt is conference chair for the OT2004 Conference that will be held at the Robinson Centre, St. Neots from 28th - 31st March 2004. The Conference is now SOLD OUT. I have been developing software since 1993. Most of that time has been spent at Royal & Sunalliance (formerly Royal Insurance), with a short spell at Vertex Data Sciences between October 2000 and June 2001. I went back to R&SA when they made me an offer I couldn't refuse :-) With Stephen Hutchinson, introduced XP to R&SA in 1999 on a project delivering insurance quotation functionality onto the web. The software in that project was delivered on time and under budget and this success was largely due to the XP method. I was co-leader of a session at OT2001 with Stephen Hutchinson entitled "Extreme Programming in the Real World", which covered some of the issues associated with introducing XP into an established, fairly traditional IT department. At OT2002 we led "The Software Generation Game - An Introduction to Extreme Programming", in response to the feedback that there were no sessions at the previous year's conference for the XP beginner. At OT2003 we ran "Fighting Fire with Fire - A Pattern Language for Rotten Projects", which began to build a pattern language to formalise the work started in the Project Rot session that SteveFreeman ran at OT2002.
