We should be meeting in the larger dining room now booked! ?

Who's going to be there:

  • JonTirsen is coming from Stockholm and could talk about NanningAspects and AOP (if there's demand for it). I would be interested in hearing about refactoring, unit testing and debugging aspects. Especially when you weren't the one who originally wrote them.--AO Maybe there actually won't be a formal speech, but I am prepared to answer and elaborate on any questions. --JT
  • RachelDavies
  • ThomasRynne (I'm interested in hearing about NanningAspects)
  • DanPollitt - I'm Interested in grabbing a couple of mins with Agilia people :o)
  • GrahamWright (Would be interested in a report back from anybody who went to XP2003)
  • AnotherShaunSmith - Hopes to make it, and on time too!
  • PaulH - after some week absence.
  • AslakHellesøy? - New to XtC. Active open-source fellow on XDoclet and Middlegen projects.
  • AdewaleOshineye (will be asking those questions about AOP mentioned at the top, talking about what mocks really test and my adventures with Ruby)
  • PratikPatel - I'm interested in debunking AOP (Aspect OP) and promoting AOP (Attribute OP)
  • JoeWalnes - Taking a break from home improvements
  • PeterBrown
  • TimM
  • MikeNew
  • MikeMason
  • AndrewMcRae - new to XtC
  • MichaelBrown - also new

Topics for discussion:

OK, so maybe the best things for us to chat about, that is the intersection of AOP and XP, are ...

  1. How can Aspects help us test software?
  2. Does use of Aspects help or hinder refactoring?

- PaulH

Who can't make it:

Wasn't there talk of Ward maybe going to this one? See UpcomingXpTalks for details. Remember London AgileSIG is on Thursday this week

Okay, so maybe it actually became a semi-formal speach after all, although I did my best to avoid it. :-) Thanks to all who showed up. Here's the link to the "Design Patterns in AOP" somebody mentioned:

http://nanning.snipsnap.org/space/2003-05-19#Design_Patterns_in_AOP

PS. I held another "speach"/public coding session on GeekNight hosted by ThoughtWorks. I tried to publicly test-drive the mentioned Pessimistic Offline Locking aspect pairing with PaulH. If you ask him nicely I think there might even be some code-samples, although we did not actually have time to "go all the way", it still needs some refactoring.

- JonTirsen
