b.t.w. can someone bring and display a laptop or a copy of TheBook as some people turned up a couple of weeks ago and couldn't find us.

We scared a few geeky looking locals by asking them where the Ecstasy meeting was - maybe telling the bar staff where you are sitting would help newbies find you.

The book I mentioned is called The Elements of Java Style by Vermeulen et al.

I promise to definitely try and do some pair programing when I get back.

I don't think debugging using sound will change my life but I will definitely try sticking a few beeps in the code :-)

Does anyone have any links on why IBM won't port VisualAge to Solaris? Also, any links to the role of JTest by Parasoft or Metamata Audit in the XP world? The static analysis tools produce a lot of interesting comments on our code.

It was a pleasure meeting some real live XP'ers especially over a pint of London Pride.

Keith announced his intention to run an experiment next week: it's the Alexander pattern-strips experiment alluded to by Gabriel in his "Patterns of Software". This is a dry-run for a session he intends to hold with his work colleagues, regarding "Quality" (the one without a name included) so wan't to make sure it works first! He'd appreciate a substantial turn-out. This will be quick, simple and hopefully fun. No preparation is required, just remember to bring your aesthetic sense.

Keith also forgot to mention (having forgotten himself) that its his Birthday on 5th August, and he'll be out for a few drinkies a week on Friday 4th (a week on Friday), all are welcome.
