Meeting Tuesday 14th September 1999 Agenda:
- Split into pairs and get links and page stories working, aim to get something that we can release to the web.
OliBye really enjoyed this meeting, it made a boring week worth while. PaulSimmons suggested trying out the FifteenMinuteTimeBoxes idea, and the group found that is seemed to work well.
SteveFreeman had an interesting time trying to figure out the keyboards on the portables.
1. Xtc.xtc1_03 to Xtc.g1_04 (Pair 1)
- . Added a test to show that the page saver can draw an html edit form, and that the text are of the form would contain the original string so that you can edit it.
- . The code was then implemented in makeEditForm. Notice that the test and the code both use this same static method. This gets you running quickly however it does feel like a bit of cheat. It does reduce your dependency on html changes - however we hope to improve this test.
1. Xtc.g1_04 to Xtc.g1_1_05 (Pair 1) - adjusted the story slightly to have ...edit words on a named web page...
- modified the test testSaving to save a page using a name. This led to changing the code in PageSaver.save. This was just a signature change which then rippled through the other tests. In terms of simple hop this isn't a bad strategy - as the underlying code is still the same although it doesn't quite work as expected. The next test written was testSavingNamnedPage which fails however we ran out of time?? Paul please comment on this.

- what happened to my changes here last night? Did they get overwritten, or did somebody not like them? --SF What did you change? and what date? Yes it's possible things skip to later versions becuase we can't figure out a simple way to move the VAJ repositories into CVS.
1. Xtc.xtc1_03 to Xtc.g2_1_04 (Pair 2)
- There was a broken test because split didn't handle nulls, so they fixed that.
- Added testLinkRendering to check that linked words were output as HTML anchor tags. The group came to the final tests by writing several versions of the test (not stored in WebCVS unfortunately)
1. Xtc.g2_1_04 to g2_1_05 (not versioned) (Pair 2)
- Added TestServlets?.testLinkRendering, to do the same test as above but via HTTP.
- To correctly anchor the link we have to pass in the front bit of the URL, so changed the load method to call the renderWholeStringMethod with the front and back bit of the URL.
