Previous: XtC02052000 Next: XtC16052000 Agenda:Anyone going on the 9th? Is it at the Old Bank of England now? --TomAyerst who wants to start going again after a long absence and thinks it would be a good idea to go to the right place. I'm going to the Old Bank of England, see you there -- IvanMoore Thunder-Nerds are GO! - SvenHowarth will be bringing his Go board. Steve will be coming -- he has a Go board (just lost control of the laptop for the night). RichardEmerson is back in the country but still can't make it, annoyingly enough for him. Drat! Wimp! PaulSimmons is GOing (he he he) How does one recognise the XtC group? We will have GO Boards and/or laptops, and generally look the part! Topics Covered When talking about the ExtremeLego results we covered an interesting observation made by CharlesWeir. His team had a non optimal solution to the Lego problem and he was worried that XP can give a result that is a local maxima (or minima if your are Chris<g>). We had a good conversation on this culminating in Steve bringing up the theory of PunctuatedEquilibrium? (as expounded by StevenJayGould?). Tom brought up the interesting problem of the AcyclicVisitor in Java. Many of us didn't really understand the problem, however the problem seemed interesting enough for us to get Tom to give us a link to look at it. Details in AcyclicVisitor Apparently there is a PalmGo? we can all try to practice up our GO skills. Tom had some ideas on us dusting off our SmallTalk to get a bit of fun back into XtC. Java's OK during the day but its quite laborious to get instant results in our short time at XtC. We thought Smalltalk might be fun. We also quite liked maybe building up to PocketSmalltalk? or at least integrating the emaulator for a real environment. Finally we had a good discussion on the impreciseness of UserStories (this is a hot topic on e-groups). The text emerging (and we have found this) is that they are not UseCases? and are imprecise and act as placeholders for negotiation and later discussions. At Dashboards we used to use the phrase JustInTimeRequirements.
