XpDay2Speakers

Please add you name to this page if you want to be a candidate for speaker at XpDay2.

Once we have a list of speakers we will plan the programme. Signing up here doesn't mean that you will definitely be included in the final XpDay2 programme. Remember also that we can only meet very modest speaker expenses Does that mean that speakers have to be modest to get expenses ? ;-)

See XpDay2Organizers if you want to be involved with organizing XpDay2.

See XpDay2DraftProgramme for a rough outline.

KenSchwaber has agreed to give the keynote --RachelD

Please indicate the type (e.g. tutorial, workshop, panel) and subject:

I'll start the ball rolling ...

  • IvanMoore tutorial/lab or workshop on TestDrivenDevelopment, Refactoring, ExtremeHour, TestTesting, XpTools
  • JosephPelrine (IvanM putting his name here - I hope he doesn't mind - I'd be delighted - Joseph) tutorial/lab on TestDrivenDevelopment
  • VincentMassol (IvanM putting his name here - I hope he doesn't mind) tutorial/lab on XpTools
  • DuncanPierce (Duncan putting his own name down without any help from Ivan) not sure what yet, but have a few ideas: possibly RoboCode, possibly mock objects in C++
  • AlanFrancis (again, no help from Ivan) workshop or possibly tutorial on transition/education. Workshop/Tutorial will depend on whether I have enough material on my own for a tute, or just enough for a position paper :-)
  • LaurentBossavit, tutorial on napping, assuming I can learn enough about that in the interval (I've been practicing once a day but without benefit of theory)
  • PaulSimmons (completely IvanM - free) would like to assist Duncan in RoboCode, Testing with an Existing codebase (SteveFreeman?) or may offer an idea or two along the lines of a practical and fun workshop on test-power.
  • SteveF is up for doing something, having missed out last time through being chair.
  • NatPryce is up for helping design and/or run a hands-on lab or tutorial on the coding/testing/refactoring side of things.
  • PaulNasrat is happy to wibble about VmWare? and systems testing

IvanM - Joseph and Vincent please edit as appropriate

  • OK, TimBacon and KeithBraithwaite: tutshop, or possibly worktorial, on coaching

  • DarrenH would like to help, possibly in the area of XpTools, TestDrivenDevelopment or refactoring an existing codebase to make it more TestFriendly.

  • RachelDavies could run an Xhour or do something on XP iteration retrospectives

  • PaoloPolce wouldn't mind doing something about "Mockmaker - the ideas and a workshop", including presenting some tools... like the MockMakerEclipsePlugin ;-) (He wouldn't mind having a look at the C++ MockObjects with Dr. Pierce either)

  • David Putman is quite happy to do a talk on project management/productivity/metrics/psycho-babble, etc

  • GrahamWright is happy to talk about scaling XP (that is scaling up)

How open is this invite for speakers? Should we ask for speakers on the various XP eGroups?

Are there any particular topics we want covered? (e.g. in explicit streams)

We hope to run one day with a similar programme to the first XpDay, followed by a training day, to cater for larger groups for popular tutorials and workshops. --RachelDavies

  • How to unit test things that use awkward infrastructure (e.g. filesystem - especially if you've used java.io.File, database dependent code and distributed systems)
  • Exactly what is (and what is not) a system metaphor? Provide some examples and show how they should be used.
