Anybody used, played with, or have any experience of this: http://xplanner.sourceforge.net/index.html Looks nice ... (only in the sense of pretty!) Looks terrible... By estimating a task in hours, then tracking hours spent on the task, is not the team using this tool is back in the world of estimates-as-predictions? By then showing a red bar if actual > estimate, is not the team (worse still) back in the world of estimates-as-promises? looking at the "motivation" and "future work" sections of the site makes me unhappy. As described there the origin of this tool doesn't sound like a very agile workplace, it sounds like the application is being used to paper over some cracks between how the developers behave and how their managers would like them to. Well, maybe this is the right solution for them: and maybe it will be useful to some other team. Personally, I feel that it indicates a trend of thought that the XP community as a whole can probably do without. -- KeithBraithwaite. I don't like progress info being only accessible electronically. I like to see the progress we are making visble to all developers and customers index cards on a planning board. We hold our morning standup meetings around our planning board at ConneXtra and it provides a vital focus for the meeting. We record our velocity on our wiki. I guess XPTrackingSoftware might be useful for distributed teams? -- RachelD
