Login Name byeo OliBye

Please note that these are not okchicken accounts, they are cvs accounts, this is becuase login to cvs is not secure, and I don't want really want people using unsecure login's to okchicken.

Download your favourite client and read documentation at http://www.loria.fr/~molli/cvs-index.html with links to clients and documentation.

WinCVS? is the recommended Win32 client

set your CVSROOT to:- pserver:[email protected]:/home/xpdeveloper/repository

(replacing byeo with your login!)

Possible ways to upload

  • CvsServer?
    • Advantage : Already running on chicken.
    • Advantage : Good control over the tagging of versions and other stuff.
    • Disadvantage : You have to download and install a CVS client for your favourite OS, and then connect to the CVS server on the chicken.

  • Mail
    • Advantage : Simple client ... simply mail your jar to okchicken
    • Disadvantage : Harder to control/view existing version names and things
    • Disadvantage : OliBye has to setup the server.
    • Disadvantage : Less secure than CvsServer?

OliBye has more or less decided to go the CVS route, since this is the method all other OpenSource? projects use, and it means the least amount of work for me.

Have you seen http://www.sourceforge.net/ ? Public hosting for Open Source projects, with all the CVS, file downloads, mailing list management etc. They have also released the code to sourceforge itself, though I would just use their servers...

If you would like to be able to upload code to the XTC cvs repository please put your name down if you want write access the repository.

Yep I had seen that and did mention it on an early version of this page, but removed it as I find if I throw in too many options it confuses the issue. It is the natural progression from using CVS on this server -- OliBye
