  • Trying to find a health spa with proper sauna facilities (foot spa, chill out lounger area etc) so you can follow the process.
  • I must get out more...

Geek Fun

  • Gerald DeJong's strange universe of elastic interval geometry, now in its n'th iteration.

Manging Off-Shore Development Can the offshore model ever work?

I am planning to rely heavily on the eclipse checkstyle plugin as a way of communicating certain things to 'my' offshore teams:
"import this config and fix all the warnings". Then they will get a nice, unambiguous list of defects.

By limiting things like class sizes to 500 and methods to 50 lines I hope to encourage 'them' to keep the code reasonably well factored...

I have found one method from a team in Spain that is 1618 lines long (can any one beat that?).

Martin Fowler's article on the subject was good. I think the simple answer is that it is hard work if you care about quality.
If you don't then offshoring (large) bits of your project makes sense: if its going to founder it may as well do so less expensivley!
