LoadFactor

LoadFactor is a deprecated metric, XP teams use ProjectVelocity instead.

I hava a little spread sheet for doing estimates for collections of stories. It has 2 sheets:

  • Stories
  • Task Analysis

Have a look at the attachment to this page and see what you think: Story_Task_Analysis_&_Estimate_template.xls

My idea is to create a web app to do the same thing. Once the Stories are lined up I want to be able to create a task analysis tree under each one, and roll up all ideal and real estimates plus actuals.

I guess the advantage of this is the spreadsheet, does the sums for you and the cards don't get lost. At Connextra we used index cards only, for stories and tasks. Advantage: everyone can see them pinned on the board (although only if you are in the office ;) An excel spreadsheet might not be easily for everyone to see at the same time in a standup meeting. At Connextra, we didn't track a total of actual time spent (although it did help to keep track of the pairs that worked on the story - for customers needing to ask questions) only our ProjectVelocity. I think some apps like this exist already, I think WorkShare? use an in-house tool and perhaps RoleModelSoft? too. -- RachelDavies
