Back at the Inland Revenue trying to keep their systems running during the PAYE filing period. The experience with the new outsourcing partner, CapGemini?, is far from enjoyable.

Spent much of 2004 on a contract with Sun building a proof-of-concept of an integration architecture for the Inland Revenue. We used a very agile approach to build a system which demonstrates the concepts to the client in 10 weeks.

I spent the past 18 months or so consulting for the Inland Revenue, trying to help them get better value from their suppliers. It's made me realise that I enjoy writing software much more than talking about it and watching other people doing it badly, so I'm back in the marketplace before I tear all my hair out.

In recent years I've worked at Friends Provident, Sony Playstation and I spent six months at BigBlueSteelTiger? where I worked with PaulDyson? and SteveFreeman. My time there overlapped slightly with that of ChrisCottee.
