DafyddRees

Welcome Dr. Rees, would you like to play a game?

  1. Chess
  2. Checkers
  3. Backgammon
  4. Strategic, Intercontinental, Distributed Agile Development

> 4

Interesting Stuff:

  • Having fun at work with RubyOnRails?.
  • We've recently had some academics studying our use of video conferenced handovers. For some reason one of them kept taping us all day. Now I understand why Russell Crowe hits photographers.
  • The development and use of the BullshitStick
  • http://www.freakonomics.com/
  • Prototyping something at work using Squeak, Seaside and SPrevayler. Ever considered GOODS Dafydd, Java and Squeak can share objects in GOODS ?-- OliBye Nope - the spike is long over. Nice work while it lasted.
  • RubyOnRails?
  • Escaping from Windows to MacOsX? (at home anyway)

Previously on Interesting Stuff

  • ModelViewPresenter? and MVC
  • JosephPelrine thinks we kick ass, and there's proof http://www.dafydd.net/blog/entries/20040914.html
  • Tinkering with Python (Does anybody know a python IDE that supports agile development? I'm looking for one that feels more like eclipse than Visual Studio.)
  • DolphinSmalltalk
  • TopLink? and object-relational mapping
  • KpaxAndAgility

Stuff I like: Smalltalk, Python, Ruby, Lisp (the brochure looks nice - I'll go there someday), ObjectPrevalence?, Java when used minimally, Linux, open source and most importantly a truly agile mindset

Past amusements:

  • New phrase: CardJacking
  • I recently came to appreciate the importance of Noel Godin's work.
  • Some amusing flame-bait I left hanging around ;-) http://weblogs.java.net/pub/wlg/135
  • debunking ObjectOrientedMythology

Background

In November 2002, I left BT to go to work on an XP project at Wireless Data Services in Poole.

I've been a student of OOP and OOD for a long time. I like things that emphasize good cruftsmanship over blind faith in bleeding-edge technology. I wish that more people saw the lasting value of real object technology.

More about me can be found at http://www.dafydd.net

Thoughts, articles and book references welcome.
