Interested but no experience. (an XpVirgin?) Hoping to make it to XtC for first time for XtC28112000. Looking for advice on how to find you all once in the pub - apart from "wander round aproaching anyone who looks geeky". Please tell us more about yourself. --SteveF Been coding commercially for nearly 4 years. Last few have been C/C++, mainly *nix. No formal training, not even a degree (of any sort). I enjoy it, for the most part. But a lot of the things that get me down seem to be what xp is designed to solve: * Big messy projects with unclear objectives. * Sitting at same desk for hours. * Not being able to bounce problems off someone who'll have any idea what I'm talking about. * Sheer boredom and loneliness - no more "fun of the chase" and constructive playfullness and creativity. I've done a very small amount of pair programming - but not within an xp framework. It just happened that there were urgent projects that either I needed help with, or I went in to help. Found I enjoyed those times more, was much more productive, the code we wrote was cleaner and neater. Made sense that this was a better way to work. xp keeps popping up, with ever increasing frequency, so I thought I'd check you out. Oh yes, and I was introduced to ths site by DaveKirby with whom I work.
