I've has been applying Xp ideas to his work in Java and C++ (and Scheme and perl and make and...) since about a year after he first heard of them on Wiki (it took about a year to overcome my initial incredulity, scepticism and fear). Working on enterprise systems with CORBA and Java, then with application servers like AtgDynamo, and then as a dot.com refugee moving into systems software for hand-helds, I found that PairProgramming and TestDrivenDevelopment in particular have had a huge impact on my development speed, the quality of the work I've produced and the enjoyment I've gained from my work.

I'd been attending XtC for a while, and had always found it enjoyable and educational, but sadly, I'll not be able to attend at all regularly now, since, happily, I've moved up to Penrith to work with CharlesWeir, and am now reachable there as

Penrillian's kind-of parent company is based in Hyderabad, India. While in India to attend a friend's wedding (which you can read about at clublets.com/c/c/why?KeithInIndia) I popped in to Saven's office to say hello, and do a bit of recruitment. Apparently the developers that Saven sent to work in the UK have been reporting back about XP (favourably, even!), so I was asked to do a three hour workshop on XP, which was interesting.

This year, together with IvanMoore, I co-presented a session at OT 2001(www.OT2001.org/scripts/wiki/?AccentuateThePositive), and with TomAyerst ran a BoF? at XP2001. And I wrote the topics for the "just a minute" diversion.

Also, with PaulSimmonds? I'll be co-presenting a session at XpDay (xpday.xpdeveloper.com/program.html#KickStartingXP) and be on the panel for the gardners' question time session.

With RachelD ran another workshop at OT 2002, www.ot2002.org/scripts/wiki/?FirstOrderProjectManagement

Has anyone else had any ExperiencesWithSoap

A while ago at XtC we discussed the idea of being a ServiceOrientedArchitect. I've also been interested in ProjectVelocity and IrregularIterations and hade some observations about ProxyCustomer.

Of the XP practices, I find relentless testing the most interesting, especially in its "test first" guise. This lead me to wonder if the c2.com/cgi/wiki?UnitInUnitTestIsntTheUnitYouAreThinkingOf. We did some XpAtSun in April 2001.

Just recently my pair and I were working on some slightly tricky GUI layout stuff. Our environment leaves much to be desired: as it's multi-language and cross-platform, run-time debugging is pretty much a non-starter. So we redoubled out testing efforts, writing a lot of fine grained tests written first and blasted through the problem. We didn't even miss the debugger we don't have. And we had a lot of fun doing it
