I am primarily a software engineer currently specializing in Java. I fancy myself one of the three XP coaches here at MediaOcean. Media Ocean [www.mediaocean.com] is a B2B? ecommerce startup in Atlanta GA. Our product goes into beta in June 2001 after a very successful project cycle where we have increasingly embraced XP practices. We haven't actually delivered yet, so I can't say for sure what the outcome will be, but it looks good.

I will be presenting an XP session Wednesday afternoon at the GeorgiaWebDevelopersConference. The abstract reads:

============================================================

Obie Fernandez - XP + J2EE = Success

Examples are given for successful adoption of XP principles on projects based on J2EE architecture. Session centers on XP principles which conflict with a pre-defined framework like EJB. For example, how do you reconcile use of EntityBeans? with YAGNI (You Ain't Gonna Need It). There is no "big" up-front design in XP, so which design patterns are most important for developers to learn and utilize? Discussion of Sun's J2EE blueprint and patterns. Where does XML fit in? We'll also consider examples and discussion of successful unit-testing strategies going beyond simple JUnit.

============================================================

Uh, yes I am pretty ambitious.

I am currently reading TheAgeOfSpiritualMachines? by RayKurzweil? and NaturalHormonalEnhancement? [www.extique.com] by RobFaigin?. Both tell me I can significantly extend my lifespan, for entirely different reasons! Perhaps I'm searching for a realistic way to live forever?
