It says senior software engineer on my job description, but I think that 'senior' means the same as in 'senior citizen'. I have been programming in one form or another for over 20 years, much of it in the games industry (from the BBC micro to the PC & Playstation).

I am currently working for Orchestream using C++, Python & CORBA, and am learning Smalltalk and Zope in my spare time (and maybe Ruby in the near future). I am trying to steer the company in the direction of XP, but it is an uphill struggle.

Update Feb 2001 - I have been given a small team to run, composed entirely of new starters so I am running it on XP lines as far as possible. We dont have an onsite customer (or any customer that we have met face to face - just a bunch of docs) so I am having to wing that part of it. I am introducing the practices gradually and with team consensus rather than imposing them by dictat. We are half way through our second iteration and so far it is going pretty well.

Dave, what's your email? --SteveF

It is - Drop me a line.

Update September 2002:

I have trained as a life coach, and am setting up my own business doing coaching, consulting and mentoring for the software industry, and life coaching for individuals. If you are interested in life coaching and would like to have a free session, or are a company that would like to improve the effectiveness of you software development teams, then drop me a line.
