Envelope/Quill XpScepticism

This is a common feeling when you first encounter XP. It sounds too simple, and too good to be true.

However, if you can suspend that scepticism and actually try DoingIt you will find it extremely rewarding and extremely powerful.

There are a lot of excellent concepts within the XP methodology. Our organization is looking at changing the way we manage projects, and XP may be part of the answer. However, we use business analysts to handle the majority of the analysis and manage the customer relationship. In reality, they function more like project managers elsewhere. The question is, how would this fit into the XP scheme of things? Any suggestions?

They could act as customer representatives for your team, provided they really understand what the customers want -- some business analysts are better than others -- and there's always a place for someone to manage external relationships. That said, every extra level of indirection is a potential source of misunderstanding.
