Envelope/Quill LookingAfterIndexCards

I've embarked on several [Wiki.ExtrememProgrammingForOne] projects recently, and although I only actively work on one at a time, the rest remain "on the back burner". I do some of my work on site, and some at home, and feel that I need to have the UserStoryCards? and the CrcCards? handy, so I tend to carry them around a lot.

The problem is that they are getting dog-eared and tatty, and there is a significant chance that I will either lose some or get two decks mixed up. I need some form of container that will keep all the various decks separate but identifiable, protect them in transit, and be easy to carry in a typical briefcase or rucksack.

Has anyone got any suggestions how to handle this simple organizational problem?

Similarly, what should I do with UserStoryCards? which have been already implemented? Ones targetted for future releases? Blanks in case I get a good idea?

All suggestions welcome. --FrankCarver

OliBye uses transparent plastic wallets which are available from stationers in the same sizes as index cards. These hold about 20 cards each and beer proof from most angles.

Thanks. I've now bought some of these stuck my current projects in them. It seems to work OK so far, but what I'll do if I have too many cards in a project for one "wallet" is still a mystery.

OliBye has three wallets, one for each priority.

FrankCarver asked this question a long time ago (mid-late 1999), so here's an update on how he does it now:

The couple of transparent wallets he started with have grown into a half-a-desk-drawer-full of "swap space" for blue-sky ideas and projects not currently being worked on. Projects too large for a transparent wallet get a rubber band (with optional paper clips to separate sections if needed). When a project is actually being worked on it moves into one of the two 5x3 index boxes (one red, one blue) which Frank seems to carry about everywhere. There is also a much deeper 5x3 card drawer, bought on a whim in a closing-down sale, but this seems to take too much planning to use sensibly at the moment.

So where does one find those neat card-sized plastic wallets then? Stationery shops - RachelD

Very funny, I was looking for a reference to a stationery shop instance rather than the classname.
